bluebonnet portraits

some friends from church came over this morning so i took their pictures in the bluebonnets. there aren't as many bluebonnets as there were last year. last year you couldn't walk in the backyard without walking on bluebonnets. i miss not having as many, but it's much easier to navigate back there & there sure are a lot less weeds than there was last year!!! i don't miss those at all!!!

the little girls always want popsicles when they come over. i had just enough -- even one for geronimo!!!! he kept looking at the girls with that "hey, where's mine?" look!!!! don't know if popsicles are bad for dogs or not, but they can't be any worse than all the other stuff he's already eaten!!!!!

here's geronimo wanting to "shake" with hannah!!!

after the popsicles, he showed them how he "swims" in his tub!!! they got a real kick outta that!!!!

he really is a good dog!

"vignette"

note: this post is not a put down to any bloggers who create "vignettes" or post about them or change their wall decor every other day or decorate their mantle for every holiday or change it just because it's thursday. i admire you. i wish i had your creativity! this is just a post about boring old me!

i'm not one for creating "vignettes". lots of bloggers create vignettes just so they'll have something to post.

not me.

kim at savvy southern style wrote a whole post on how to create a vignette.

lots of bloggers change their wall decor or mantles just so they'll have something to post.

not me.

i often think i should change up my walls or mantle, but then i think, "if i took 'that' down, where would i put it? what would i put in its place?" "how many holes would i have in my walls if i moved stuff all around all the time?" "but i like 'that'. how could i put it away? i want to see it!"

(but i do realize that sometimes you get so used to seeing something in the same place that after awhile you don't "see it" anymore. so it might be a good thing to change stuff up every once in awhile!)

lots of bloggers decorate for every season.

not me.

i guess i'm pretty boring.

or i don't like change.

or maybe i just have things the way i want them.

(wish i could do that with every part of my life!!!!)

BUT today i have a "vignette"!!!!

i've always wanted one of these coke crates. but they're pretty pricey. but i got one given to me for FREE!!!! it came with a little metal wagon (which i'm gonna put outside in the flowerbed) from a friend at church. she was tired of it & thought i would like it. ummmmmmmm, yes!!!!

so i made a "vignette" on my dining room table!!!

and i can take a picture of it from every angle, just like those "vignette makers"!!!!

now it's got me lookin' at the things on the wall.................look out!!!!!

linking up to savvy southern style, wow us wednesdays

bluebonnets 2013

are nothin' like the bluebonnets of 2012, but they're still BEAUTIFUL.

these plants will still get bigger over the next few weeks.

backyard:

last year the entire backyard was FILLED with bluebonnets. this year i have patches. the dog dug most of the ones in the flowerbeds. there are a few plants left. there are a skimpy few by the swingset -- that's where the dog likes to go to the bathroom -- don't know if that has anything to do with the skimpiness!!! the ones on the side where his house & "dog yard" are never had a chance!!
these are the ones by the patio that bloomed at christmas then froze then came back!!

with as many as there were last year, i expected a whole lot more this year -- but it's like a poker game, you take a chance & get what you get!! (by the way, i've never played poker in my whole life, but it sounded good!!!!!!!)

front side flowerbed:

for 23 years i've tried to grow bluebonnets in this side flowerbed. they've never wanted to grow here until this year!

the driveway!!!!:

this one is right at the entrance to the garage! i've learned to straddle it as i'm driving in!!!!! i've never run over it nor have i hit the garage!!!!

wonder what next year will look like?!?!?
