a little weekend project!

my friend cathy from work came over a couple weekends ago & we did this project!  we had some boxes at work that weren't being used for anything so we confiscated them (we asked!) and covered them with scrapbook paper.  here are cathy's boxes....she's going to use them as christmas presents for her brother & sister in law.  i'm using mine to hold my past & present stampin' up! catalogs!!!  you'll have to come over & see mine!!!!

october stamp camp

yesterday's stamp camp was so much fun!!!  i love you girls!!!!

we came up with a great idea for the october stamp camp:  a shoebox swap!!  this is where each one of you designs a card or project, prepares all the supplies necessary to make the card or project & you put them in a plastic shoebox or basket or whatever & each participant gets to make every card/project!!  so if there are 12 participants, you have enough supplies in your shoebox for 12 projects.  you'll need to have everything they'll need in the box--paper, cut to the right size(s), stamps, ink, adhesive, any embellishments necessary, punches, etc.....you get the picture?   this is so much fun whenever we do it at our demo meetings!  i think it'll be fun to see what every one of you come up with!!!

please rsvp to this post by monday, 9-27 so i can let everyone know how many to prepare for, like this:
"dorothy - coming & swapping"
"mary - coming but not swapping"
"betty - not coming "---------->NO!!!  don't rsvp like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you want to come but not participate in the swap, please come because i'll have some projects for you to stamp so that you're not missing out on anything!  but i really think everyone should participate for the fun of it!!  your card/project design doesn't have to be complicated - you CAN DO IT!!!

hurry & rsvp to this post!!!

november stamp camp - name frames

these are a couple name frames i did this past year for gifts......
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......................i was right in the middle of a LONG post about october stamp camp when the computer decided it needed to do an update & it closed me out of here, installed the updates, wouldn't let me use the computer til all updates were installed & ERASED my long blog post!!  i thought it might save a draft, but no such luck!  well, i'll tell you about the november stamp camp here, then i'll tell you about the october stamp camp in another post!!!  so sorry!!

all the girls at yesterday's stamp camp requested that i teach them how to do my famous "name frames"--they have become my trademark baby gift, but i will show you how to do them too.

we'll be doing these at the november stamp camp which will be on sunday, november 7.  that's the 1st sunday rather than the 3rd sunday, which is the week of thanksgiving,
so we'll have stamp camp early that month.

for this project you will need:
  • a frame of your choice, 8x10 or larger, depending on what you want to say on the frame.  you don't have to do a name -- you can say "merry christmas," "welcome," "joy", etc........... .  i typically use 8x20 that i get at michael's on sale for my names.  if you need me to get you a frame, put that in your comment & i will add the cost to your "bill".
  • 1 package of dsp of your choice from pages 172 - 175 of the SU! catalog.  i am requesting that you use the SU! paper packages because we'll be using the rest of the paper on several other cool projects that i have in mind.  you will get to take home any leftover paper for your use - it's your package!  i will need to place the paper order this weekend, so please comment in this post by friday, 9-24.  i'll give you your paper at the october stamp camp so you can "get a feel for it" & plan your embellishments, etc. - you'll just have to remember to bring it with you on the 7th!
  •
  • the total cost of the $9.95 paper will be $12.00
  • the total cost of the $11.95 paper will be $14.25
  • you can send a check anytime before the october stamp camp
  •
  • any embellishments of your choice (brads, buttons, prima flowers, etc.)
  • adhesive of your choice.
  • chipboard letters of your choice or you can cut some with my bigshot machine & dies (i only have lower case letters though, so if you want capitals, you'll have to get your own!!!)
  • cereal or cracker boxes etc to use to cut out letters.  save them & bring to october/november stamp camp!!!
please arrive promptly so you'll have plenty of time to do your frame!
i will have paper scraps, ink, punches, etc available for you to use.

**don't forget to rsvp in the comment section!!

introducing "saturday morning stamp-a-stacks"!!!

i told you that i was planning more activities -- here's the 1st!!

join me on the 2nd saturday of the month for a "stamp-a-stack"!!   a stamp-a-stack is different from a stamp camp in that we'll make multiples of each design so you can accummulate a good stash of cards.  there will be different themes each month with a set amount of cards.  you can make additional cards for an additional fee.  i'll have everything cut & ready for you to assemble.  reservations will be required one week before and there will be no cancellations once you have made your reservation.  if you find you are unable to attend, you will still be responsible for the fee & you will get a packet of supplies.  the fee will vary depending on the amount of cards we do, but it will generally be around $20.  i'm looking forward to lots of cards & lots of fun!!  hope you'll join me!!  here's the list of upcoming events; i'll post each individually a couple weeks before the event so you can rsvp to each particular event in that particular post.

  • october 9   "Christmas Cards"
  • november 13  (either "sarah & dorothy's Christmas gift workshop" or "Christmas tags stamp a stack" -- more details to come!)
  • december 11  "thank you cards"
  • january 8  "birthday cards"
  • february 11 & 12  "scrapbook marathon"  (not a stamp-a-stack -- more details to come!!)

have a blessed day & stamp something!!

september stamp camp (last post today - promise!!!!)

september's stamp camp will be on sunday the 19th at 2pm.

we'll be doing fall cards & the swap is using {soft sky, chocolate chip, crumb cake - kraft for those like me who just can't get used to that new name!! - & certainly celery}.  if you don't have one of these colors, you can substitute from the same like color.  there's also a sketch, but if you're having trouble with it, just make up your own!!  it was just a suggestion, not mandatory!

stamp camp is $10/person unless you're in the hostess club, then your camp is free!  hostess club members please have your order ready.  renee is the hostess this month.

so reply to this post in the comments section if you're coming & if you're swapping.

hope to see you then!!!

next to last post for today - i promise!!

i'm going to post all info about stamp camp & other events here on my new blog rather than sending out emails.  please rsvp on the blog in the comments section of each event.  i think it will be much easier to keep track of events & who's coming & who's swapping in each post rather than getting a zillion emails & trying to keep track of them all.  i also think this will be nicer than the evite thing too - that always gave me trouble!  & once i get a new camera, i can even post previews of what we'll be making here!!!!  i'm so excited!  i went to our demo business builder's meeting today wanting to get enthusiastic about stamping again - i'd sort of lost my enthusiasm.  i honestly think this will help.  yay penny!!!  your meeting was a success!!!!

i've got pictures!

cupcakes from amy's shower
amy's babyshower gift
i do have some pictures on my computer that i can post here!  these are from my friend amy's babyshower earlier this year.  the name frames have become my "trademark" baby gift.  i've lost count how many i've made & each one is different!  i first place the letters for the name on the blank frame & sometimes sit staring at it for hours & then the inspiration comes & it all comes together - unique & individual - each one has Bible verses & each one always says "bless u" & "made for you with love".

my new blog!!

ok.  i've been to a stampin' up! demo business builder's meeting & we were challenged to do 2 things to build our businesses.  we had to come up with our own ideas what to do.  i actually have 3 ideas!!

1.  start a blog;
2.  learn "mds" (my digital studio from su!) better so i could customize my blog & scrapbook more;
3.  have more stamping & scrapbooking events besides my monthly stamp camp.

so i've been home for a 1/2 hour & i have a blog!!!!!............but i'm not computer savy....it's an ugly blog!  i want a cute blog!!  i've got a lot to learn!!!!!!   for awhile my blog won't have any pictures on it because i gave my camera to my daughter when she went away to college.  she's got tons of pictures on FB.  hmmmmmmmmm.....maybe i'll be an indian giver & ask for my camera back!!  or maybe i'll ask santa for one for christmas!!!!

this blog will be where i post info about my stamp camps & other events - be sure to check it regularly for updates!

bear with me  while i learn how to do this!  my upline says it's easy - she has a cute blog!  i wanna be her!!!!

edited later:
i did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!  i've got a cute blog!!!!!!   penny - i just HAD to use the same background as yours - it was the only sunflower............"imitation is the highest form of flattery"
