online garage sale, round 2

in my efforts to

along with the fact that i'm broke & need the money more than i need these things, i'm going to be going through each room of my house & put things out there for sale. the online garage sale i had last year was much more successful than any "real garage sale" ever was - (our neighborhood just isn't conducive to garage sales) - so here goes round 2.

i sorted through my stamps sets & found there were lots that i've either used so much that i'm tired of them, or some that i had never used at all & probably never would. awhile back i had unmounted all my stamp sets & i combined them either by groups of words or types of sets, so these aren't complete SU! sets, some may have several sets combined. i'm selling them way cheaper than you could get 1 set on ebay, so they're a really good deal. i just want them gone!!!

what else pallets can be used for

besides signs & maps........

GATES!!!

specifically gates to prevent your daughter's puppy from eating your house!!!

(the metal gate in front of the pallets used to keep our old dog out of this part of the yard to prevent her from digging on the side of the house.)

the "puppy" (he's huge, but he's only 1 year old) was outside, i was in the dining room & heard a strange noise. since mother's know everything, i knew it was the dog eating the house!!! the window in my dining room juts out & makes a window seat. the house is brick everywhere except under this window -- stupid builders! i would have made it all brick. since it was nighttime & dark, i didn't go out to look til morning, but i laid in bed thinking of what to do to prevent GERONIMO from continuing to eat the house, or jump on the window & break it, or continue tearing the screen on the other window. in the morning i had the answer!!!

pallets!!!

sure enough, he chewed a hunk out of the house along with some other little areas.

i had some pallets that were very rough pine & not real good for signs unless i wanted to do lots of sanding so i measured & they were perfect!!!!

hopefully this will keep him out.

he is big. he is strong. he is smart.
i is smarter!!!! (i love that movie "the help"!)

hopefully he won't jump over the top!!! (he didn't jump over the metal gate; it has been in a different place since the other dog left & this area was totally open.)

another home improvement $0.00 !!!

a pallet christmas, part 2

i sent my friend laurie an email asking for the following info:
favorite song, favorite hymn, favorite #, favorite saying, favorite bible verse, and a bunch of other favorites. didn't tell her what i needed the info for.

i took her answers & combined them to make one of those "subway signs" that are so popular nowadays. it turned out so cute! it's a good thing these aren't MY favorite sayings, etc. or i would have kept it!!!

my daughter likes maps. i saw a catalog where they took a world map & glued it to some old boards & were asking $200.00 for it!! she already has a world map, so i took a pallet & an old texas map & made one for $0.00!!! (& mine's bigger than theirs & better cuz it's TEXAS!!!)

and she likes it!!!

and the nice thing is, she left it here rather than take it to school, so i get to enjoy it for a little while!!! i'm gonna re-decorate her room; the map just might be her headboard!!

i also made her a necklace hanger with old wood & doorknobs....

and a dry-erase memo board with a 7-picture picture frame & scrapbook paper....

next post i'll show you what ELSE pallets can be used for besides signs & maps!!

so much to do, so behind

i've gotten so behind on so many things. my blog has suffered. i've "written"
many posts in my head, but just haven't had the time or energy to get them onto the computer. sometimes that little voice in the back of my head says, "no one cares about your boring little life anyways, so why bother!" is that true? sometimes i think it is.

i need to get caught up though. jeepers - that means i have to go all the way back to my birthday in december! i got the neatest card from my friend laurie!!!!! it's a one of a kind "laurie original" especially for me!!!

is that just not the cutest card ever?? well, i think so!!!

my friend joyce gave me a pitcher from marshall pottery. her son goes to ETBU in marshall & when he 1st went there, i told her about marshall pottery. now it's her most favorite place to shop!!! and she shops for me there too!!!!!

another friend, who shall remain nameless, gave me these "red-neck wineglasses"!!!! i've been wanting to make some forever, but never did. and now i don't need to!!! Unless i want to have a party, that is!!!!

people must think i drink a lot! (i don't!!!) one of the guys at work gave me these "red-neck champaigne glasses"!!!! so i guess i CAN have a party!!!!

two ladies from church that i have been getting together with on tuesdays to stamp & the ladies from our church stamping group gave me a huge set of watercolor pencils!!!! i decorated this cute little can to keep them in.

then there was Christmas!

i prayed for pallets to make christmas presents with, & God provided!!

i made this sign for our family gift exchange game at grandma & pa pa's. grandma won it. well, actually, she stole it from grant!!!!

i made this sign for joyce. it's her favorite saying....."i came. i saw. i napped."

i made these for 6 friends.....didn't use pallet wood - it just didn't look right. i used fenceboards that i got from my neighbor across the street!

this is super long, so i'll show you the rest of the "pallet christmas" in my next post.
