i've got more bluebonnets than brenham!!!

suzanne & i went to brenham last saturday. the bluebonnets are JUST starting to pop up there. it was hard to see them in some places because they're not really blooming yet. oh, there were a few patches along 290. we didn't go to our "normal haunts" -- back off the main roads in the farms & fields -- so i'm not sure how they're doing back there.

i'm thinking about changing the name of my blog. i thought of a new name today & it's really growing on me............i'll have to think about it & check into if i can change the name & the address without losing any of my posts. i'm just not liking "sunflowerstamper happenin's" anymore.

edited later: i did it!!! i changed my blog name & address!!! for those of you following me, i hope it changes automatically however you get updates, but it probably won't, so you might have to do something to be sure you still follow & get updates. i'll post the new address & name on FB

what do you go to church for?

we're getting a new pastor. he'll preach his 1st sermon next sunday. yesterday was the interim pastor's last sermon. he's been really good. he's had some really inspiring sermons - ones that make you think.

yesterday's was like that. it was about REALLY worshipping God. got me to thinking. made me convicted.

the pastor didn't ask this question, but what he said got me to thinking.....

why do we go to church?

it is because it's what we're expected to do as christians?

.....something we do out of habit?

.....just because we've always done it?

.....to see our friends?


or is it to WORSHIP GOD?

and what is TRUE WORSHIP?


last night my prayer was, "God, help me to focus on YOU. help me to worship YOU. help me to put YOU FIRST." the last verse i read before going to sleep was matthew 6:33 "but seek 1st His kingdom & His righteousness & all these things shall be added to you."


today's p31woman devotional was on focusing on Jesus/God & they quoted matthew 6:33!!!!

weekend plans........

it's supposed to be a rainy cold weekend, so no yardwork this weekend.  suzanne & i are going to spend saturday together.  we're "goin' junkin'"!!!!  gonna go to a bunch of antique places in brenham & other places.

i'm glad my little girl likes the kind of stuff i like!!!!   she's a real bargain shopper too!

tonight is "crafting night with the girls @ pony's house" --- should be fun!!!

it's friday eve!!!!

had fun with suzanne tonight. we went out for dinner & then went shopping. (as much as i hate shopping!!! we only went to target & walmart - that's enough for me!!!!) she got the cutest sandals!!!!!

i've been playing around on the computer tonight (when i should be sleeping!!) & have added a signature to my blog posts!!!! and i've added old wooden boards to the sides......and i'm not even computer savvy!!!!!

the p31woman devotional this morning was so appropriate!!! i was in one of those "i'm not feeling loved" moods & this one smacked me right between the eyes!!!

Our heavenly Father is not some far away God. He is near to us and we can approach Him, regardless of our needs. Our Father wants to be involved in every detail of our lives. He wants to know and share in our joys and our pains. Mostly, God wants us to know He loves us and there’s not a thing we can do to change that. His love is unconditional. Will you allow God to wrap His loving arms around you and wash away all your fears as He whispers to your heart, “I’m here for you—no matter what” today? Dear Lord, thank You for Your unconditional love. Please give me the grace I need to stop fighting and to receive Your love. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.



i struggle sometimes having faith in God. i have a friend who is struggling right now with having faith in God. why is it so easy to say, but so hard to do - even when we KNOW we should do it? i KNOW God is going to be there, but when looking at this "little part of the big picture", it's so easy to lose focus & feel like He's nowhere around.

God, please help me to have faith in You.

my backyard doesn't look like a typical houston subdivision backyard.    it looks like a texas hill-country field!!!!  it's exploding with bluebonnets!!!!!

that's the back door!!!  there are so many bluebonnets in the backyard that now they're starting to COME IN THE HOUSE!!!!   they're growing & blooming INSIDE MY HOUSE!!!!!

these plants are growing in the crack between the patio & the house & they've started coming inside the door!!!   this is how big they are when you open the door.....

i just couldn't bear to pull them.....

i picked this bouquet & took it to work so i can enjoy them during the day....

i'll have more pictures of the whole "field" later - maybe this weekend.

mason jars

i've been lovin' mason jars since WAY before they were as popular as they are now.   i've always (since i moved out of my parents house at the age of 18) used mason jars as drinking glasses.  they're country.  they're inexpensive.  they're cute.  they're country.  they're ME! 

a few years ago some friends were over for dinner & their son (who is suzanne's age) said, "suzanne, why do you have canning jars for glasses?"  suzanne didn't know what to say!  she looked at him in amazement & finally said, "those are canning jars??" !!!!!   to her, she had grown up with them & they were glasses!!!
