this program is interrupted just one more day!

sorry.  i know i said i was going to start showing more christmas decorations, but i have to show you the birthday present from my friend joyce while the birthday is still fresh!  if i wait til later, you'll be "why is she showing us stuff from her birthday - that was a long time ago?!?!"

about 100 years ago i went to marshall pottery in marshall, tx.  i love that place!!!  it's where i got my bowls....

and all the other stuff i have in my kitchen....

when my friend joyce's son decided to go to ETBU in marshall, i told joyce about marshall pottery.  she went there & now it's one of her most favorite places on earth!  she bought me this plate there for my birthday.  it has a "place of honor" on my kitchen counter now!!!  it'll always remind me how special a friend she is!!

(she's gonna have to go back there again - with me though!!!!!  road trip!!!!!)

OK - christmas decorations TOMORROW.  (& {unlike someOne} tomorrow WILL COME!!)

be a blessing!!!!!

interrupting the christmas celebration to have a birthday celebration!

everytime i wrote the date today, i wanted to write 12-5-60!  i had to stop & think about it several times while filling out forms.  i even had to backspace on my computer & change the 60 to an 11 several times!!!!!!!

thank you to everyone who facebooked me or called me to wish me happy birthday!!!  i love you all!!!  i got taken out to lunch by one of the guys at work & then went to dinner with another friend tonight! talked to my daughter, sister & brother on the phone too, so it was a good day!!

after i got ready for work today i took some pictures.
51 doesn't look any different than 50, so i guess i'm OK!!!!!!

so much for the no-glare coating on the glasses!!!!

even with no flash i get a glare!

why do i always look like a squirrel with his cheeks full of nuts?!

i am so blessed!!    thanks for sharing in my birthday!!  tomorrow there will be more christmas pictures.

there are so many titles i could write for this post -- "christmas decorations, part 1", "my free purse isn't free anymore", "when decorating for christmas, remove your purse from the counter", .......but i think i'll call it "the christmas lesson"

last night i was putting up all the christmas decorations.  i have a BUNCH of nativities & decided to not put them in the usual places.  i have one that's made of resin (aka very fragile hollow plastic "vfhp") that has many pieces that i usually put on the mantel.  well, this year i decided to leave the usual everyday stuff on the mantel & add some christmas to it.

i like it.

so i put the "vfhp" nativity on the counter next to the tv.  i worried about it, thinking, what if someone sits in the rocking chair in front of it & bumps it & the pieces fall off & break?

nah, that probably won't happen.

hours later i'm going to go to bed.  my phone is in my purse which is on the other side of the counter.  i use my phone for my alarm.  so i'm standing by the counter in the dining room, i reach for my purse, the handle falls over, hits joseph & knocks him over.  he doesn't fall off or break, but i yelled "OHHHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!  BABY JESUS!!!!!!!!!!!"  baby Jesus went flying off the counter, crashed to the floor in a million pieces.

yes, a million!

if you're trying to count the pieces, just trust me, there's a million there!!!!

at least there may as well be!!

i immediately thought, "now God, you know everything.  you KNEW that this was going to happen.  why didn't you stop it?  that was baby Jesus, afterall!!  why did you let baby Jesus break?"

yes, i actually talked to God that way.

and then He talked back to me.

(not audibly, of course, but in my heart)

He said, "i let the baby Jesus FIGURINE fall & break to teach you a lesson."

"that figurine is only a piece of very fragile hollow plastic.  it is just STUFF.  it means nothing & you don't really need it.  Jesus isn't in a manger anymore.  He's not a baby anymore.  He died for your sins.  and like I say in my word, 'why are you crying?  He's not here.  He has risen!!"

wow!  what a perfect lesson for Christmas!!  all these decorations are pretty.  they're nice to look at & remind us of what who  we should be celebrating this season.  but even if we didn't have them, we could STILL celebrate.

(joseph bopped his head pretty hard, but he didn't even get a bruise!!!!!!)

because Jesus WAS born in a stable, laid in a manger.

but more importantly, He did die for our sins on the cross.

and now

so my free purse isn't free anymore.  it cost me baby Jesus - but i'm ok with that!  the "broken" nativity & my purse will serve to remind me that Jesus paid for ME.

thank you God for my Christmas lesson on how much You love me!!  now i have a conversation piece that when people ask me where's the baby Jesus, i can tell them "He's in my heart & in heaven waiting for me!!"   God, i love You!!!

oh - are you wondering why the one wise man is in the red wagon?

did you catch that?!

what?    you never heard of the crippled wise man?  he couldn't ride a camel, so he rode in a little red wagon!  (it was way before they had wheel chairs!!!)

yes, last year when setting them up, i dropped him.  well, actually he jumped right out of my hands!  he broke his butt!!!  i propped him in the greenery last year & no one ever knew he had a broken butt!!!!

this year i thought, "now how am i going to prop him up on this counter?  i can't just not include him - how do you explain to people that there are only 2 wisemen?   --  i know!  he can sit in the wagon!!!   that'll be a cute story to tell - "the legend of the crippled wise man"  - i can write a book & be famous!!!"

i think i'd rather write a book about the missing baby Jesus - & HE can be the famous one!!!!

more Christmas decorations pictures tomorrow - have a blessed sunday evening!!

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas!!!

went to bed at 4:30 am, got up at 10:30am.

the yard is raked, mowed, edged; the driveway is blown clean (again!); the lights are up on the house,

the porch is full of snowmen,

the tree is up & decorated

and so are the nativities - but i'll show you those & more of the rest tomorrow!!  it's been a long 11 hr. day & i haven't really stopped.  i'm exhausted & still have to put clean sheets on the bed, take a shower & get ready for the morning at church.

tomorrow afternoon i'll be working on finishing those 150+ christmas cards that i started in september!!!  that's all i'm going to do tomorrow afternoon.  i WILL get them done!!!  making gifts will have to wait for another day.

(bing crosby helped me get all this done today!!!!)

christmas blessings to you!!!!!

i am NOW in the mood for christmas!!

i honestly haven't been in the mood for christmas.

 - i've listened to christmas music on the radio for a week now
- i've taught my preschool class the story of the angel telling mary she's gonna have a baby & his name will be Jesus
- i've been practicing "away in a manger" & "silent night" with my preschool class & the "older class" above them for several weeks now
-i've decorated the fellowship hall at church
-i've drawn 16 murals of the christmas story & colored most of them
-i've got my 150+ christmas cards almost finished

BUT I HAVEN'T REALLY BEEN IN THE MOOD FOR CHRISTMAS.

until tonight.

i was coloring a mural & listening to the radio & the announcer said that almost all the holidays we celebrate are because we're celebrating overcoming something bad (memorial day - celebrating the soldiers who died/fought for our freedom, labor day - celebrating hard work (or at least it used to be), thanksgiving - celebrating the fact that the pilgrims survived hardships, etc.............)  he said if we've been facing hard times, we should celebrate the season, celebrate the REASON - JESUS, because He loves us & will be faithful to us through these hard times.

that really made me think!  i've had some tough times this past year.  i've been sick & i'm just tired of being sick.  but i've had some good times too & God/Jesus has been faithful & He loves me & has provided all that i NEED - everything that i need!!  so i should celebrate!  celebrate HIM.

thank you, God, for always reminding me how much You love me!!  i love You sooooooo much!!!!

so tonight i did some cleaning & a few other projects & tomorrow i will decorate, put up the tree & the lights on the outside of the house.  i will work on my christmas cards & finish them.  i will start on those christmas gifts that i've had plans for since APRIL but haven't even started yet.  in my head they look so cute!!!!

i'm in the mood for Christmas!!!!

rearranged the bedroom furniture

my bedroom has been the same way FOREVER..............boring!

so the other night i decided to do some rearranging.

made it a little more "romantic" & less "institutional"..............moved the treadmill to suzanne's room.  unfortunately she uses it more than i do!  maybe now that it's in her room i'll use it more!!!!!!!

forgot to take "before" pictures.............oh well, just imagine boring!!!!

here's the "after":

the desk was in the corner by the window & closet.  now it's on the opposite wall.

put the night stand dresser in the corner at an angle.  it was so boring backed up into the corner.

the bookshelf is in the same spot, just moved over a little.

this pillow sits on the desk - has for many many years.  it was made by my best friend cindy.

the porch picture made it back to this wall & the chair tapestry returned to it's former wall too!   guess they were just destined to be in those places!

those are my grandma's hankies.

i like the change!  the room feels bigger & there's lots more floor space.

just one thing missing though.............................and it's NOT a treadmill.........!!!!!!!!!!!

be blessed - i'm heading to bed with drugs!!!!
