i'm bored

i've got a million things to do, but i don't want have the desire to do any of them!  but i don't want to just sit around doing nothing either!

it's soooooooooooooooooooooooo windy & cold!!!!   such a change from last sunday!!  the wind has been playing "jingle bells" on my windchimes for 2 days now.

what's that in the background?

 a sunflower has planted itself in the yard!!!!

 it's almost as tall as the 6 foot fence!

 it seems everything's confused by this strange weather!

there's a little bud in there -- i just might have a real live sunflower blooming on my birthday next week!!!!

if the wind doesn't break it or blow it away or the cold doesn't freeze it!!!

look what the wind did to my gate.......tore the post right out of the ground!!! (turns out it was never cemented in in the first place!!  guess that's on my to do list now...............)

i decided to make a pot of potato soup - haven't done that since last january!!!  and this old wives' tale really works--- put a wooden spoon over the pot & it won't boil over!!!  it works!!!

 however, there's nothing to keep the onions & celery from burning when you leave it to go check out updates on facebook!!!!!  (no, i don't cook my onions with the potato peels!they're dumped in the sink, waiting to be thrown away)

so you just have to start all over!!!!!

not sure if i'm going to plaster the kitchen or clean the craft room or put up the christmas tree.   it's too cold to put the lights on the outside of the house.  should have done that friday night when it was still hot out!

i need to get in the MOOD to do SOMETHING!!!

i think my problem is i'm lonely.  i want to have a party!


maybe if i plaster the kitchen, clean the craft room & put up the christmas tree, then i'll have a party!!!!!!

a beautiful day in the virgin islands!

the time is wrong - it was about 4:30 pm when this picture was taken

today was beautiful!  i came home from church, put on my swimming suit & took a 2 hour nap in the virgin islands!!  the sun was hot, the sky was blue, with not a cloud.  then i woke up to these:  how beautiful!!!!!

such a perfect afternoon!!

then i raked the pine needles from the front yard & fertilized both the front & back yards. 

i've got blue bonnets LIKE CRAZY!!!!!!  the little plants came up a lot earlier this year than usual.  i hope that doesn't mean they're gonna die & not be good come next spring.  they've been up since early october.  they usually don't pop up til late november, early december.  and there's more this year than most!!!!   next spring IS gonna be beautiful!!!!!!!!!

 i've got to stain the brick on the back of the house!!!

 they look so happy - living in the cracks!!!!

well, i promised you bathroom pictures, so here they are!!!!

suzanne's bathroom:

 i love old fashioned glass knobs.  these are just like the kitchen, but a little more clear & they don't have the metal sunburst piece in the center.

 this is the one i put on the medicine cabinets.  it looks like it's lit up, but it's not!!!!

 i just love those knobs!!!! --- have a said that yet???!!!!

my ugly walls!

i had glorious plans to plaster the walls in the kitchen this past week.  but i got sick saturday afternoon & was in bed from saturday night til wednesday.  went to the dr. on monday & i had/have bronchitis!  went back yesterday & now i get to take cough medicine with drugs in it!!!!! 

so................my kitchen looks like this.............

 the yucky pantry door!!!  and i haven't even swept the wallpaper dust up off the floor yet!!!!!  you'd think that'd be driving me crazy!!!  and it would, if i weren't sick!!!  i guess when you're sick, you just don't care!!!   i'm still trying to decide what i want to do with this door.  i'm thinking about painting it with chalkboard paint & having this be the memo/reminder area rather than putting the memo board back on the cabinet door.
and i think i'd put a little chalk tray/rail on it or else there'd be chalk dust all over the floor and THAT WOULD BUG me!!!!!!!

so many decisions!!!!!!

there's a peek at the cabinets with the knobs....i decided to put the old ones back on.  the white ones from my friend were just too stark.

i wanted to have the walls done by the time suzanne came home for thanksgiving. 

i'm not so sure that's gonna happen!

and i'm still debating if i should paint the walls white or take the white paint i have back to lowe's & have them color it - but i don't know what color!!!  in my head i've got chocolate (like suzanne's bathroom, the color is "taupe" though, but it looks chocolate) or gray.   tell me your thoughts!!!!!!


a long time ago when i painted the bathroom cabinets, i said i wouldn't show pictures til i put the knobs on.  well,  i finally got the knobs on!!!!  i'll post those pictures tomorrow!!

my free purse!

i've really been living cheap frugally lately.  i've been cooking at home, using what's in the pantry & freezer, stretching meals, making meals that can be frozen.  i NEVER shop - i think i'm the only woman in the world that hates to shop!!  i try to make everything i need, whether it's for myself or gifts.  i did a whole house makeover with one gallon of free to me paint! i make do with what i've got.  and i'm happy with that.  doesn't mean that sometimes i still don't want something.  but even with all this frugal living, there's no extra $$.  so like Paul, "i'm content with & content without."

burlap is really popular in decorating these days.  it's been in the back of my mind that i wanted a burlap purse.  but i'm not gonna spend $40 or 50 or more for one.

it's so neat how God provides not only our needs but He throws in a few wants every now & then!!!

one of the guys at work got a package delivered to my office from a vendor.  he came in to the office yesterday & i gave it to him.  he opened it in my office & it was a burlap bag with a cosmetic bag with lotions.  he said, "what the heck am i going to do with a PURSE?!  i don't want this PURSE!!!"  i said, "ohmygosh - i love it!!!"  he said, "do you want it?"  i said, "YOUBETCHA!!!!!"    the wheels were already turning in my head how i would "redecorate" this plain bag with the vendor logo on the front & make it my new burlap purse!!!!

so here's the before:

nice big bag, ugly logo (well, not really ugly, just not what i'd want)

nice cosmetic bag, attached to inside with a cord so it doesn't get lost.

here's the after:

 front - i had this upholstery webbing & i hot glued it on the bag, attached a decorative stampin'up! brad,

 back - painted my favorite number & thought the word "cafe'" would make it look all burlap coffee sack-y & "cafe' 28" just sounds cool!!!!

 reinforced the inside pockets with some of the webbing - hold my cellphone holder really well now & doesn't mess up the pocket!  & attached a piece of webbing to the back of the cosmetic bag to tie it all together!

 i had made covers for the handles, but they made it all too bulky so i took them off.  it's much better without them, even though they did look nice!

so there's my FREE, stylin' burlap purse that didn't cost me a dime!!!!!  and i can carry EVERYTHING in it!!!!!

a few of the guys at work had seen the bag yesterday & they were pretty impressed with how it turned out!!!  the guys at my office are cool!!!

(& the lotions -- they were sunscreen & after sun lotion & a tube of lip balm-----just what i'll need for next summer!!!!!!!  God is sooooooooooo good!!!)
